Robert D Parkin FCA

Partner

Rob is at the very helm of our company, steering us on towards further growth and success. As well as doing this, he looks after a full range of businesses from large companies to one-man band concerns providing them with excellent and sound business and tax-saving advice.

Starting his accountancy career at the age of 17 and studying to become a Chartered Accountant during the evening, this approach gave him real-world accountancy experience and led him onto gaining the best accountancy qualification. Rob really enjoys the buzz that his company creates and wants to break the mould of a traditional accountancy practice.

When Rob is not working, he takes every opportunity to play golf, and now that his 13- and 10-year-old children are keen golfers it makes it easier to get out for a game. As well as golf, football is a passion, a life-long supporter of the Millers (that is Rotherham United to you and me), he regularly attends their matches as a season ticket holder at their New York Stadium home.

Specialist area: Small to medium businesses, licensed trades, and family businesses.

John R Parkin FCA

Partner

I have been in Public Practice since 1st April 1967 and have experienced many changes in Public Practice as in my personal life. There is one thing for sure and that is “the basics never change”. I thoroughly enjoy the business environment I work in being in Partnership with my son Robert and working closely with other members of my family; Tony, Hollie, Kate and Kaylee and the team we have here.

John specialises in all aspects of public practice with a wealth of experience in many industries as he has been trading since 1967.

Away from work my current involvement in sport is more of a “watching” capacity. I am Committee Chairman of Rotherham Town Cricket Club (the oldest member Club of the Yorkshire League) plus a member and supporter of both Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Rotherham United (Reds). Also I have been a full playing member at Sitwell Park Golf Club in Rotherham since 1st January 1957 when I was just a Junior.

I believe that success in life and business involves around the team “ethic”. Relating back to cricket it is important for the whole team that the last man in batting is equally important to the team as the opening bat. I firmly believe that the Captain and in the case of “Parkins” the Captains are the key to the present and future success of our Accountancy Practice.

Transitioning from my previous accountants in June 2020 was seamless. Working with Ryan and the Parkins team has been really straight forward, and their service has been great! I would recommend anyone to Parkins, always so welcoming, whether that’s calling into the office or calling up. Good that I can get through to Ryan when I have any queries – good to know that he is always on the other end of the phone should I need him.

What an amazing recommendation by another customer after the sudden death of my accountant. Nothing was too much trouble, Tony Parkin was professional, empathetic, supportive with the difficult transition of our payroll – he got us to where we needed to be. Problems with year-end accounts and switch of SAGE, Rob Parkin ended my 10-day misery by successfully switching my SAGE package technology. Rob held my hand and solved my problems in less than 10 minutes. If I could give 10 stars, I would.
